The Province of Quillota is located in the center of the V Region of Valparaiso, has a surface of 1,638.7 km² and has a population of 229,241 inhabitants. Its provincial capital is the City of Quillota.

The city of Quillota is the capital of the Province of the same name, in the V Region of Valparaiso, in the central zone of fertile Chile.Su valley is known world-wide level by its exports of Chirimoyas and Paltas. The Foundation of Quillota
El 4 of 1717 July the Meeting of Populations orders to erect Villa of San Martín of the Shell of the Valley of Quillota, as a way to unite to the dispersed families and to give security them. The 11 of November of 1717, was founded the city of Quillota, by the temporary governor of Chile Don Jose of Santiago Concha and Salvatierra, which verified the 11 of November of 1717, with the presence of the Bishop Luis Romero and Governing Don Jose Santiago Concha and Salvatierra.Desde the foundation of Quillota settles down a town hall with two mayors and six regidores, this way for 282 years a regidora institution of the community has been existing. Single in 1818 by mandate of Don Bernardo ÓHiggins Baptist regularizes itself like municipality, naming like first mayor to Don Juan Alvarez de Araya. The title of city is granted to Quillota the 6 of August of 1822, also of hands of the Bernardine Liberator O`Higgins.Durante the colony the city had great military and administrative importance due to its location between the capital and the port of Valparaiso. Until 1842 Quillota it depended on Santiago, but when being created the new province of Valparaiso, constituted in a department that when finalizing century XIX counted on 19 subdelegations and 48,737 inhabitants, being the commune of Quillota its capital. The traditional administrative importance of Quillota has stayed until today, since it is constituted like capital of the province of the same name.
