It is located in the coastal zone South of the Region, with cradle surface of 5,420.6 km2 and populated by 160,606 inhabitants. It reunites the municipalities of Lebu, Araucan, Curanilahue, the Poplars, Cañete, Contulmo and Tirúa. The administrative capital is the city-port of Lebu.

Su rustic territory, with narrow valleys in the coast and the imposing mountain range of Nahuelbuta, to the east, is furrowed by numerous rivers and brooks of short passage.
